Fisherwomen March to the Legislative Assembly

Trivandrum :Protesting against their cancellation of membership, the fisherwomen, under the leadership of the KSMTF, marched to the Legislative Assembly. Shri.Panniyan Ravindran MP inaugurated the march. He said that cancelling the membership of fisherwomen cannot be accepted and assured all support till this rightful demand of the fisherwomen was met. Shri.Panniyan added that he would bring this problem to the notice of the Chief Minister.

After the march, the women forced themselves into the office of the Welfare Fund Board at Vazhuthacaud. They dispersed only after they were given written assurance that membership would be given to all eligible fisherwomen. Ms.Elizabeth Antony, Ms.Friska Kurisippan, Ms.Maglin Peter, Ms.Mable Nasiance, Ms.Jensila Antony, Shri.T.Peter, Shri.Valerian Issac, Shri.Anto Elias and Shri.John.J.P spoke on the occasion. The march that began from Pulimood Junction was led by Ms.Rajamma Cleetus, Ms.Celine, Ms.Everesta, Ms.Mariam Francis, Ms.Noble Bernard, Ms.Sheela Raju and Ms.Metilda Antony.
